“Hi! I’m Marisela and I originally applied to work at the museum to remain in the art industry while I figured out what I wanted to do next with my BFA degree. I love art and wanted to work in a place that allowed me to stay surrounded by art while I figure out what my next move as an artist is. I’ve stuck to my position here because I love my colleagues and the experiences that the museum has afforded me within the Denver art community.

I support our union because while I think the museum is an amazing place to work, the actual work conditions are not so great. I’ve seen my coworkers struggle financially and emotionally over my time here because of upper level decisions made within the museum regarding budget, staffing, and time off. I want to see change from the admin level down to improve our work environment and reduce stress levels across the board.”
